School of Chemistry

Brayford Pool, Lincoln, LN6 7TS

Salary from £32,548 pro rata

Post reference: COS248

With substantial support from the HEFCE Catalyst scheme, the University has established a new School of Chemistry and is seeking to substantially enhance its position in its key strategic areas of forensic science and further its track record in applied chemistry for research and innovation. Substantial investment in new research and teaching facilities (including Forensic Laboratory and Crime Scene facilities), and in major capital equipment has established a dynamic and modern working environment for the School.

To enhance the professional practice components of our Forensic Science taught provision, we are seeking a suitable candidate with significant and broad experience of crime scene and forensic investigation and an ability to develop modern teaching and training provision for taught programmes and professional CPD.

We are seeking applicants with broad and significant experience in the analysis and management of Crime Scenes, ideally with the potential to retain a position in current practice. The role will provide a key underpinning of training for the School’s Forensic Science taught programmes at undergraduate and post-graduate levels and will help the School develop its commercial training provision. The potential for a joint/parallel appointment with a relevant commercial or public sector organization will be considered a considerable advantage to facilitate a candidate’s continuing professional development.

The University of Lincoln is a forward-thinking, ambitious institution and you will be working in the heart of a thriving, beautiful, safe and friendly city. The School provides a stimulating environment for academic research, and is based in high quality, newly developed facilities. If you would like to be part of shaping our world-class vision to make a real difference and would like to know more about this opportunity, please contact Professor Ian Scowen, Head of Chemistry on 01522 83 7010 or iscowen@lincoln.ac.uk

Please note this post is fixed term up to one year, or until the early return of the post holder.
