The Role:

We’re seeking a methodical yet creative Pharmaceutical Technologist to support the continued development of our existing generics portfolio and facilitate the transfer of new solid oral dose products between our manufacturing sites, in accordance with industry and company regulations (e.g. SOPs, GxP and cGCLP) – this will include working on all scales of manufacture, from bench scale through to pilot projects and commercial scale-up. Working in a small technical team, you’ll support our Operations department to help make our products more available, cost-effective and safe to handle. You’ll attend site Operations and Quality meetings and analyse product data to identify opportunities for product improvements (e.g. deviations, market trends, manufacturing challenges).  You will apply creative approaches, apply learnings from across the portfolio and build the business case for further development work. As a result, you’ll use our pilot scale manufacturing equipment to perform trials, apply scientific techniques to support process scale-up, complete technical reports to provide supporting data for any licence applications and disseminate any findings to relevant parties across the business. In addition, you may be asked to conduct process investigations, present technical information during internal audits or travel to other sites to participate in larger projects.

This is a broad role, giving lots of variety and exciting opportunities for development.

The Person:

With hands-on experience in a similar testing or manufacturing role in a highly regulated environment (e.g. food, pharma, fine chemical), you’ll have some knowledge of the basic principles of tablet/capsule manufacturing, processing and testing and an awareness of relevant regulatory guidelines. Ideally, you’ll have some experience of product transfer, preparing regulatory application files, and working with low dose, high potency products. A degree-level qualification in a science or engineering subject would be beneficial, however we’re also keen to hear from individuals with a technical manufacturing/engineering, QA/QC or Pharma Tech background with a keenness to learn. Experience writing technical documents would be beneficial. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you can relate to people of all backgrounds and levels, and enjoy working collaboratively. Naturally inquisitive, you apply knowledge to solve problems in a creative yet methodical manner, and your good numeracy skills mean analysing data and presenting findings in a clear and concise manner doesn’t faze you. You’re brave enough to try something new, but resilient to drive things forward if they don’t quite go to plan. Well organised with experience of project management, you’re happy working to targets and adaptable to changing priorities. Good IT skills (including intermediate Excel and Word skills), a keen eye for detail and a flexibility to work outside normal work hours (if required) are essential.
