We are currently working with an emerging start-up biotechnology firm in their search for a Scientist - Biosensor Development to join their facility based in the Macclesfield area.

As the Scientist - Biosensor Development you will be responsible for contributing to a focussed programme aimed at development, demonstration and characterisation of the biosensor device at a proof of concept level. The role is primarily lab based but the candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute more broadly to the development programme.

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate some of the following skills: biosensor development, electrochemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioconjugation, protein chemistry, research and development, R&D, oligonucleotides.


Your duties as the Scientist - Biosensor Development will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Contribute to the design of biosensor characterisation experimental programme.

2. Preparation of biological materials for experiments using standard laboratory techniques.

3. Preparation of biosensor devices for experiments, for example using bioconjugate techniques.

4. Execution of biosensor experiments, collection, analysis and reporting of results.

5. Provide general support to the programme within areas of technical expertise.

Training will be provided as required on the electronic device / characterisation aspects of the technology.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Scientist - Biosensor Development we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree or PhD in a related chemistry of life sciences discipline. In addition to this, we will be looking for you to demonstrate experience with biosensors or label-free technologies and electrochemistry in an academic or industrial setting.

2. You will also require experience working in a molecular biology, biochemistry or similar environment.

3. Ideally, you will have further knowledge in the field of molecular biology and / or biochemistry, including proteins, antibodies, peptides, oligonucleotides, buffers, etc.
