We are currently looking for a Assistant Research Scientist to join a leading Biotherapeutic organisation that focus on the novel research of the Human Gut Microbome, based in the Cambridgeshire area. As the Assistant Research Scientist you will be involved in the development of new, innovative live bacterial therapeutics, aiding in the characterisation of novel bacterial strains and providing microbiological support to the rest of the team.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Assistant Research Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Your role will involve carrying out a number of microbiological techniques such as Microscopy, bacterial culturing, preparation of culture media and viable cell counting.

2. As the Assistant Research Scientist you will be responsible for ensuring the Quality Control of bacterial cultures, documentation handling and report keeping of experiments.

3. You will also be responsible for inoculation of bacterial stocks and contribute to the characterisation of bacterial isolates.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Assistant Research Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Degree in Microbiology or a related subject is essential to your application along with capability carrying out aseptic techniques.

2. Proven experience carrying out Microbiological techniques such as, but not limited to, bacterial culturing, biobanking, microscopy and anaerobic bacterial work.

3. Previous experience working in a quality control laboratory would be desirable.
