A Biotechnology company focusing on Antibody Discovery is looking a protein scientist with Mass Spectrometry experience to join their Protein Sciences team based in the Cambridgeshire area.

As the Scientist - Protein Characterisation you will be responsible for the development and delivery of analytical capabilities to support their bispecific pipeline. The analytical capabilities are required to deliver protein engineering, research grade production and process development activities with a key focus on protein characterisation and formulation.


Your duties as the Scientist - Protein Characterisation will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Development and delivery of analytical methods for characterisation of Antibody pipeline with a key focus on protein aggregation, formulation, primary structure determination, protein structure prediction and post-translational modification characterisation.

2. You will analytically contribute to the development programmes from early development through to GMP manufacture.

3. You will establish and apply a variety of the following techniques: LC-MS, Dynamic and static light scattering, capillary electrophoresis, UHPLC (SEC, RP, IEX), Mass Spectrometry

4. You will demonstrate scientific credibility and ability to drive and influence projects through scientific expertise as well as critical interpretation of data to draw results driven conclusions and define project progression.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Scientist - Protein Characterisation we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant PhD within Biochemistry or a related field, ideally within an Industry environment or in addition to industry experience.

2. Demonstrated experience in analytical and biophysical characterisation of recombinant biotherapeutics. (e.g. formulation, protein aggregation, protein stability and post-translational modifications including glycosylation).

3. A working knowledge and practical experience of protein characterisation using Liquid Chromatography coupled to Mass Spectrometry with a focus on workflows to assess sequence coverage, sequence identity and post-translational identification and measurement.
