We are currently looking for a Research Scientist to join a leading Life Sciences Research company based in the Cambridgeshire area. As the Research Scientist you will be responsible for developing new, innovative biotherapeutic products within the Microbiology team and will be involved in the upstream and downstream processing methods.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Research Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. You will carry out analytical techniques such as PCR and DNA extractions.

2. Your role will involve carrying out many microbiological techniques such as Microscopy, bacterial culturing, preparation of culture media and viable cell counting.

3. As the Research Scientist you will be responsible for ensuring the Quality Control of bacterial cultures, documentation handling and report keeping of experiments and also assisting in the maintenance of equipment within the laboratory.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Research Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant Degree or Masters in Microbiology or a related subject.

2. Proven experience carrying out Microbiological techniques such as, but not limited to, bacterial culturing, biobanking, aseptic techniques, microscopy and anaerobic bacterial work.

3. Previous experience working in a quality control laboratory would be beneficial to your application.
