Are you an experienced optical engineer looking for a new exciting job opportunity?

We are currently looking for a Senior Development Engineer (Optical Systems) to join an expanding fuel cell company based in the Glasgow area. As the Senior Development / Optical Engineer you will be a key member of the engineering team and be responsible for interfacing between the wider engineering group.


Your duties as the Senior Optical Engineer will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. You will be responsible for the design and development of optical systems to be integrated into illuminated fuel cell products and develop optical test methods for complex optical systems and sub-assemblies.

2. You'd also be required to create and document detailed design specifications for optical components and wave guide systems to illuminate fuel cells.

3. As the optical engineer, you would be required to identify suitable suppliers for optical and optoelectronic components and assemblies as well as implementing a comprehensive design strategy and develop operational work-flow for the design and test of the optical systems.

4. You will also be required to perform design FMEA and reliability assessments on optical and opto-mechanical sub-assemblies.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Optical Engineer we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in a Optics, Optoelectronics or Physics.

2. Proven industry experience in an optical engineering role with hands-on experience of optical test methods and standard specifications.

3. Thorough understanding of fundamental optical and geometrical optics, polarization, interference & diffraction, non-linear optics and laser.
