We are currently looking for a Downstream Process Scientist to join a leading Biopharmaceutical company based in the Berkshire area on an initial 12 month contract. As the Downstream Process Scientist you will be responsible for contributing to the development, optimisation and characterisation of downstream processes for the recovery and purification of antibody-based therapeutics.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your duties as the Downstream Process Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. Undertake purification process development experiments for fundamental understanding of individual unit operations and assisting with the evaluation of new bioprocess technologies.
2. Demonstrate an ability to perform appropriate analytical techniques and analyse data with good attention to detail as you will be responsible for the documentation.
3. You will be using AKTA and UNICORN-based chromatography equipment as well as using a variety of different methods, including but not limited to, HPLC, ELISA and electrophoresis to assess product purity and protein characterisation.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Downstream Process Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
1. Relevant BSc, MSc or PhD in Biotechnology/ Biochemical Engineering or a related subject.
2. Proven industry experience in using AKTA/ UNICORN software.
3. A working knowledge and practical experience with downstream processing
