A fantastic opportunity has become available for an Engineering Director to join a Global Pharmaceutical based in North Wales. As the Engineering Director you will lead the Engineering activities, having immediate responsibilities driving activities across maintenance, capital projects and operations technology. This is a fantastic opportunity to really put your stamp on an exciting and high performing Pharmaceutical business.


Your duties as the Engineering Director will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Drive company wide engineering strategies, transforming the facilities, utilities, equipment and process control & automation systems. This will include leading maintenance, capital projects and operations technology changes across multiple sites that cover multiple pharmaceutical specialities.

2. Lead capital projects with a £125m plus budget including concept, design, construction, installation, commissioning and qualification by building relevant business cases ensuring projects are delivered on time/cost and to business requirements. *Pro-actively identify and action needs for further investment*.

3. Transform the Engineering group by recruiting, leading, managing and developing people, ensuring that the team as a whole and as individuals have the necessary skills, knowledge experience, motivation and empowerment to perform their roles, according to global competency model.

4. As a member of the Site Leadership Team, provide input to the development and delivery of site strategy and goals, promoting cross-functional working and Operational Excellence. As the primary interface between the Site Director, and the wider business, ensure effective communication on global functional requirements and site constraints.

5. Provide effective, robust, cGxP & EHS-compliant and adequately maintained infrastructures supporting processes to the business; ensure their planned and coordinated delivery as well as optimum availability through the implementation of e.g. TPM programme and Reliability Maintenance.


To be successful in this application, you will be an experienced Engineering Leader from the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical sector. You will be able to demonstrate strong leadership of maintenance functions focused on driving true Overall Equipment Effectiveness. In addition, you will have been involved in executing Site Master Plans including significant construction of facilities and installation of equipment.

1. Chartered Engineer educated to a minimum of degree level with comprehensive management training

2. Significant managerial experience in a variety of Engineering functions within the pharmaceutical industry, preferably on an FDA approved site.

3. You will possess significant Capital Projects, facility construction and expansion experience and have experience of GMP regulated maintenance engineering environments.
