A Leading Synthetic Biology Service provider is looking for an experienced Scientist within Cell Engineering to join their Cell Line Development team based in the Oxfordshire area. As the Scientist - Cell Engineering you will be responsible for range of internal platform development and commercial projects, predominantly focused on expanding gene editing technologies and platforms.


Your duties as the Scientist - Cell Engineering will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to define project goals and deliverables, in line the planned project objectives

2. To keep up to date with the scientific literature and developments in the field and set an example to other colleagues, and to train junior staff in appropriate techniques

3. Use your experience and knowledge to standardise and produce stable mammalian cell culture (adherent and suspension)

4. Promote and suggest implementation of new methods, technologies and processes to ensure best practice.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Scientist - Cell Engineering we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or a related field, in addition to commercial/industry experience in a related role.

2. Proven industry experience in production of stable mammalian cell lines, generation and engineering of viral vectors, including lentivirus, retrovirus and AAV.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience with gene editing tools (including CRISPR) for cell engineering and screening purposes as well as flow cytometry and cell sorting.
