We are currently looking for a Scientist / Senior Scientist - Protein Characterisation to join a leading company based in the Cambridge area. As the Scientist / Senior Scientist - Protein Characterisation you will be responsible for proactively contributing to the development and delivery of analytical capabilities to support the company technology platform and antibody pipeline. Analytical capabilities are required to deliver protein engineering, research grade production and process development activities with a key focus on protein characterisation, developability assessments and formulation.


Your duties as the Scientist / Senior Scientist - Protein Characterisation will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. Development and delivery of analytical methods for characterisation of an antibody pipeline with a key focus on protein aggregation, formulation, primary structure determination, protein structure prediction and post-translational modification characterisation.

2. Developability assessment, formulation, and characterisation of antibodies.

3. Analytical strategy contributor for in-house development programmes from early development through to GMP manufacture.

4. Representation of the Protein Sciences group on antibody development programmes.

5. Critical interpretation of data to draw results driven conclusions and define project progression.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Scientist / Senior Scientist - Protein Characterisation we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. PhD or equivalent relevant experience, ideally gained in an industrial environment although consideration will be given to industrially relevant academic experience.

2. Experience and breadth of knowledge in analytical and biophysical characterisation of recombinant biotherapeutics for CMC development. (e.g. formulation, protein aggregation, protein stability and post-translational modifications including glycosylation).

3. Demonstrated experience in establishing and applying the following techniques: Dynamic and static light scattering, capillary electrophoresis, SVP, UHPLC (SEC, RP, IEX), Mass Spectrometry.
