We are currently looking for a Downstream Process Development Scientist to join a leading company based in the Wiltshire area. As the Downstream Process Development Scientist you will be responsible for contributing to the income generating activities of the group by providing technical support in the development of production processes for biopharmaceutical products within ISO 9001 and cGMP laboratories.


Your duties as the Downstream Process Development Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. You will provide a scientific and technical specialism in the area of Downstream Processing to projects involved in the development of processes for the manufacture of biopharmaceutical products.

2. You will be knowledgeable in the area of Quality by Design/Design of Experiments, protein purification, process development, scale-up and validation.

3. Contribute to process validation and manufacture problem solving activities and will play a key role in the technology transfer activities relating to the development and/or manufacture of biopharmaceutical products internally or externally.

4. Training staff within the area of specialism and supervising operational laboratories ensuring that work is undertaken to internal quality and safety policies.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Downstream Process Development Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in a Life Science discipline (ideally a PhD) and industrial experience in protein purification and downstream processing.

2. Proven industry experience in development of downstream processes and scale up work.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience working within a GMP environment is desirable but not essential.
