We currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Scientist to join the Animal Sports Research team within a rapidly growing, global life sciences company based in the Cambridgeshire area.

As the Scientist - Animal Sports Research you will be involved with primary testing and research activities including the analysis of drugs and substances prohibited in sport within a range of sample matrices, including biological samples (equine and canine) and complex nutritional supplements specifically for research into doping control, new drug research and animal welfare.


Your duties as the Scientist - Animal Sports Research will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. You will use a range of analytical technologies, including high resolution accurate mass, GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-MS and clinical analysers, specifically for the analysis of biological samples (blood, urine, hair) for the presence of drugs and substances prohibited in sport.

2. You will be responsible for undertaking all aspects of project delivery from study design through development, delivery, interpretation and reporting of results.

3. The majority of work will be laboratory based and will require a flexible approach to both analytical development and more routine analysis.

4. You will be expected to work under ISO17025 laboratory guidelines.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Scientist - Animal Sports Research we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in a chemistry or biochemistry related discipline.

2. Prior hands on experience in LCMS and/or GCMS.

3. You will be expected to demonstrate a flexible approach to working, problem solving and troubleshooting abilities and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with other staff and customers/clients.
