We currently have a great opportunity available for a Scientist with knowledge/experience in Mass Spectrometry to join a global life sciences company based in the Cambridgeshire area. As the Scientist - Mass Spectrometry you will be responsible for performing the sample preparation and analysis of samples from metabolism studies that are carried out and reported to high scientific standards in compliance to GLP, A(SP)A and HSE regulations.

There will be excellent opportunities for development and training as part of this role.


Your duties as the Scientist - Mass Spectrometry will be predominantly laboratory based, however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Conducting technical and scientific procedures with appropriate training and supervision. This will consist predominantly of mass spectrometry techniques, specifically for metabolism based projects.

2. Undertaking study / laboratory related activities, record keeping and checks, and participating in general laboratory housekeeping.

3. Becoming familiar with the preparation of results and developing an understanding of data interpretation. This will include use of on-line data capture systems and office computers.

4. Developing and maintaining effective communication and working relationships with peers, management, inter- and intra-departmental project groups and other customers including QA. This will include providing timely updates of study progress to their line manager and the Study Director such that accurate invoicing and revenue / forecasting can be achieved.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Scientist - Mass Spectrometry we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in a life sciences related discipline, eg. chemistry, biological sciences, or similar.

2. Working knowledge and experience of Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) and associated sample preparation techniques.

3. Have worked in or have knowledge of a GLP environment.

NB: Although not a requirement for this role, having access to a car or bike is recommended to travel to and from site as there is no good public transport links in the area.
