We are currently looking for a Molecular Microbiology Research Assistant / Scientist to join an emerging Biotechnology company based in the Cambridgeshire area. As the Molecular Microbiology Research Assistant / Scientist you will assist in the designing of novel live bacterial biotherapeutics. You will focus on microbiology and molecular biology techniques including; microbial culturing and characterisation, nucleic acid isolation, PCR and real-time PCR.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Molecular Microbiology Research Assistant / Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. The growing and archiving of therapeutic bacteria, in a new state-of-the-art microbial culturing facility.

2. Culturing of gastrointestinal microbes.

3. Characterisation of microbes through molecular biology techniques such as PCR.

4. Play a key role in building a new biotech company and to contribute to the development of a new class of biotherapeutics.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Molecular Microbiology Research Assistant / Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in a Life Sciences discipline (e.g. Microbiology, Molecular Biology or something similar).

2. Proven industry experience assisting in a microbiology or molecular biology laboratory.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience with Bacterial Cell culture, DNA/RNA extraction and PCR techniques.
