Group Leaders, Medicinal Chemistry

Operating from state-of-the-art research facilities in Loughborough and BioCity, Nottingham, UK, Charnwood Molecular is a leading Contract Research Organisation, providing medicinal, process and synthetic chemistry services to the global pharmaceutical, biotechnology and chemical industries.

As part of an ongoing expansion to meet the rising demand for our services, we are now looking to recruit exceptional individuals to lead and manage our project teams at BioCity.

Reporting directly to the Head of Medicinal Chemistry, our Group Leaders work as an integral part of the project team; designing and implementing new synthetic routes, and supporting the activities of the other chemists working under their supervision. Group Leaders are also responsible for liaising directly with our customers - preparing weekly reports and attending regular teleconferences/face-to-face meetings to keep our clients informed of progress on their projects.

Candidate specification:

A BSc, MSc or PhD in synthetic organic chemistry with at least 3 years of experience within a biotech, pharmaceutical or contract research organisation.

Some previous experience of leading small teams to support drug discovery projects at the hit-to-lead and lead optimization stages, and line-management experience involving the coaching and mentoring of junior staff would be an advantage, but is not a prerequisite.

In return, we can offer a competitive salary and benefits, including a company pension scheme.

At Charnwood Molecular we recognise that a company‚Äôs real strengths lie in the people that it employs. Our strategy is to recruit the most talented chemists to bring a wealth of creative experience to our team. If you want to join our growing team and help shape the way in which we develop as a company, then we look forward to receiving your application.
