We are currently looking for a Senior Technical Specialist - Flow Cytometry to join a global life sciences company based in the Cambridgeshire area. As the Senior Technical Specialist - Flow Cytometry you will provide expert technical and scientific input into assay design, troubleshooting problematic assays and to provide technical support to sales enquiries. You will be an expert in Flow cytometry and will have additional knowledge and experience in cell biology.


Your duties as the Senior Technical Specialist - Flow Cytometry will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. You will take a lead role in conducting, supervising and monitoring the development and/or improvement of Flow Cytometry analytical methods. You will also be proficient in troubleshooting and problem solving of Flow Cytometry analytical methods.

2. You will have the responsibility for sourcing, validating and implementing of new Flow Cytometry technology, including evaluation of new instrumentation and technology for implementation in the department to ensure current services remain competitive.

3. You will have the opportunity to work with other departments, including providing technical and scientific support to Sales regarding enquiries and costing of studies.

4. You will have the opportunity to train analytical staff in Flow Cytometry including theory of analysis and use of instrumentation.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Senior Technical Specialist - Flow Cytometry we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Fully competent with both Beckman Coulter and BD Bioscience flow cytometers (FC500 and FACSCanto II). You will also be expected to be able to analyse and review complex multicolour flow cytometry data (ideally using FCS Express).

2. Competent in cell based assays (method development, transfer and validation).

3. You should be able to demonstrate experience managing scientific studies, including scheduling work, data analysis and review, report writing.

4. You should have prior experience working in a GLP or GCP environment

NB: Although not a requirement for this role, having access to a car or bike is recommended to travel to and from site as there is no good public transport links in the area.
