An exciting opportunity has become available for a Formulation Development Specialist to join a leading Pharmaceutical company based in the North Wales area. As the Formulation Development Specialist you will be responsible for creating and executing Formulation Development plans to provide robust liquid and lyophilised protein drug product and drug substance formulations.


Your duties as the Formulation Development Specialist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Development of high throughput processes and methods for pH, buffer and excipient formulation screening and development. Specific methods for development include HPLC, CD, UV, CE, FTIR, Fluorescence methods and calorimetry.

2. You will be expected to apply your knowledge of mechanism of protein degradation, aggregation chemical modification and fragmentation to develop rationale approaches for proteins stabilisation.

3. You will design and execute accelerated stability testing plans that demonstrate suitability of formulations to support effective novel biologic non-clinical and clinical dosing requirements.

4. Actively review and improve working SOPs and documents within the Formulation Development Department as part of a continual improvement strategy in addition to ensuring experimental plans are appropriately documented via protocols or lab book studies to support robust formulation screening and provide output of development activities in reports.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Formulation Development Specialist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree within Chemical or Biological discipline, ideally followed by a PhD looking specifically at Drug Formulation or a similar area of study.

2. Proven industry experience of routine Formulation Development methods (e.g. HPLC, CD, UV, CE, FTIR, Fluorescence methods or calorimetry)

3. A working knowledge and practical experience with Protein Formulation Development under GMP requirements.
