A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Head of EHS to join a leading global Life Sciences business based in the Berkshire area. As the Head of EHS you will be responsible for driving strategic direction and leadership to achieve excellent EHS performance and lasting culture change.


Your duties as the Head of EHS will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. You will have strategic responsibility for development and implementation of the site EHS plan aligned to broader business objectives

2. Engage with the site leadership team and other key stakeholders including internal corporate and regulatory authorities to promote and drive a culture of continuous EHS improvement. Co-ordinate the site EHS Steering team meetings.

3. Develop, implement and review EHS policies, procedures and systems which are best practice meeting legal compliance as a minimum and are embedded in wider business processes.

4. Have overall responsibility for Occupational Health & Safety functions ensuring that they meet best practice. Have responsibility for the effectiveness of the biological safety committee and the biological safety process.

5. Monitor EHS performance through the development of KPIs, reports, and inspection with emphasis on the identification and implementation of continuous EHS improvement. Manage and develop the EHS function team members to achieve excellent EHS performance with emphasis on coaching, mentoring and personal development. Responsibility for the EHS department budget.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Head of EHS we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree qualification in a Scientific or Engineering discipline. The successful candidate must be a member of IOSH and qualified to NEBOSH Occupational Safety and Health Diploma level or equivalent. You will also have an appropriate environmental qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management.

2. Proven EHS industry experience in a highly regulated environment such as Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Chemical or Nuclear. Other laboratory or process safety environments will also be considered.

3. Proven track record of working at a senior management level in EHS with credible, visible and influential leadership style at all levels. A proven track record of leading and managing EHS culture/behaviour change and improving organisational EHS performance.
