Chemist / Chemoinformatician
This is an exciting opportunity for an established chemoinformatician or an individual with a chemistry background who is looking to make the move into a more IT related role, while maintaining use of their core chemistry skills and knowledge.
Scitegrity is a small UK based company specialising in supporting the pharmaceutical drug discovery industry. Our flagship product ‘Controlled Substances Squared’ (CS2) is used by major pharmaceutical / chemical companies and regulators to help ensure compliance against controlled substance legislation or collaboration contractual terms. Several of the world’s top pharma companies have come to rely on CS2 and this number is growing rapidly.
Due to the success of CS2 we are expanding our team and are currently looking for someone with a background in chemistry data management and programming or an experienced chemist who is looking to move into chemoinformatics. Full on-the-job training would be given on the programming languages and environments we use.
We are based on the Discovery Park science park in Sandwich, Kent and this is intended as a full time role. However, we are willing to explore home working and/or reduced hours for the right person.
Key activities in the role include
- Development of future versions of CS2 (after suitable training) and new products
- Working globally with legislators to convert chemical legislation into computational formats in CS2
- Technical and scientific presentations to prospective clients
- Support of existing customers’ questions / queries
- Support of new installations (via remote working)
Skills and experience of the ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will be an experienced chemist (with a chemistry based degree) with an eye for accuracy and detail. Experience in chemistry data management or scripting is desirable, although as Scitegrity will provide full training in this area we welcome candidates with a genuine interest in IT and a desire to acquire programming skills.
CS2 is built using Biovia Pipeline PilotTM, so some experience of this or similar platforms would be advantageous to the candidate, but not essential.
