We currently have an exciting and immediate requirement for a Senior Scientist with experience of Phage Display and Antibody Discovery and Screening to join a growing biotechnology company based in the Hertfordshire area.

The post of Senior Scientist initially has funding for a period of 2 years, with the possibility for extension.


Your duties as the Senior Scientist - Phage Display will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Maintain a high level of knowledge and skills in technical R&D areas related to Antibodies and Antibody-drug conjugates.

2. Communicate technical knowledge both internally and externally, with staff and collaborators at internal meetings, presentations and conferences.

3. Carry out laboratory R&D using Good Laboratory and Safety Practice (GLSP). Produce robust and accurate experimental reports, have organised electronic data management, prepare SOPs, batch reports and internal/external study reports as required.

This will include:
- Construct, validate and use in-house or commercial recombinant antibody phage display libraries for the discovery of biotechnologically-relevant antibodies against therapeutic targets. Focus on antibody fragments, CDR mutagenesis and CDR randomization approaches.

- Design, using state-of-the-art approaches, construct using a wide range of effective molecular biology techniques, genetic constructs for the production of a wide range of antibody, antibody-derived or other proteins of biotechnological interest in a wide range of hosts such as bacteria, yeast and mammalian cells.

4. Attend internal and external meetings as required, which could include liaising with contract research organisations and participate in multiple projects as required.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Senior Scientist - Phage Display we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant PhD in a relevant field, including experience of phage display and antibody discovery. Experience of phage display is essential.

2. Proven industry or post-doctoral experience working with antibodies, understanding antibody structure, antibody purification, development of analytical methods for screening e.g. SDS PAGE, immunoassays, flow cytometry, cell based assays, chromatography, mass spectrometry, Biacore and immunohistochemistry.
