We currently have a fantastic opportunity available for a Senior Scientist to join the R&D team of a rapidly growing life sciences company based in the Hertfordshire area. Our client is a global business, and the R&D Team are responsible for creating new genomics related reagent and assay products.


The Senior Scientist role provides an opportunity to contribute to the development of new technologies supporting agricultural biotechnology and life science industry. Drawing on your in-depth expertise of molecular analysis you will drive development of new products and delivery of custom solutions to global key account customers. Combining creative scientific ability with business acumen, and an understanding of the patent landscape to generate novel products.

Your duties as the Senior Scientist - R&D will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Creative and innovative new product development of genomics related reagent and assay products, eg. PCR, genotyping, DNA Extraction and next generation sequencing.

2. Collaborating with scientists across the business to ensure release of high value differentiated new products and services.

3. Maintaining knowledge of key intellectual property, and taking responsibility for reading, digesting the information and relaying key points to your team.

4. You will be the 'go-to' expert in the field of molecular analysis.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Senior Scientist - R&D we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Degree or equivalent experience in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related field. You will also need practical expertise in molecular analysis e.g. RT-PCR, qPCR, next generation sequencing.

2. We will be looking for a creative and innovative scientist with and understanding of the application of genotyping to Agricultural Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical and consumer environments. You will also need an awareness of commercial trends and opportunities in the genotyping field.

3. You will need to demonstrate knowledge and experience of intellectual property and patenting, the production of technical documents and training manuals and the use of quality systems.
