We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate - Protein Characterisation to join a growing life sciences company based in the Cambridgeshire area. As the Research Associate - Protein Characterisation you will play a key role in the continuous advancement of an immune-oncology platform and contribute to drug discovery and development. You will be largely lab-based, working under the supervision of a senior scientist within the Protein Sciences group, responsible for protein characterisation, formulation and method development.


Your duties as the Research Associate - Protein Characterisation will be mostly laboratory based, however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Develop, validate and perform a variety of analytical methods to characterise mAbs, bispecific mAb, antigens & antibody fragments, including HPLC (HIC, IEX, SEC), light scattering (MALLS & DLS), DSC and capillary electrophoresis.

2. Demonstrate interpretation of data to draw results driven conclusions and influence product development.

3. Utilise understanding of protein chemistry and biopharmaceutical development to make proactive recommendations

4. There will be opportunities to learn and develop within this opportunity, and you will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm, ambition and a willingness to learn.


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Research Associate - Protein Characterisation we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant BSc or MSc in a life sciences related discipline, plus experience of protein characterisation gained within an industry based or biotech setting.

2. Experience in analytical and biophysical characterisation (including protein formulation & stability, post-translational modifications and product characterisation), specifically analytical and preparative HPLC, UPLC, HIC, IEX, SEC, light scattering MALLS and DLS, DSC and capillary electrophoresis.

3. We will be looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious scientist, and as this job will offer the opportunity to learn, we will be looking for candidates to demonstrate the willingness to develop.
