An excellent opportunity has now arisen for a Development Chemist to join us at our site in Seal Sands, Middlesbrough.

The role will support technical start-up of new and existing processes and providing supervision, guidance, issuing instructions, monitoring performance, and providing technical input and advice to the manufacturing plant.

Ensuring that all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are met, you will provide chemistry support and supervision for the start-up and ongoing performance of processes to ensure quality and minimise lost time in manufacture and work with the technical team to set and monitor key parameters. Providing direct technical guidance to ensure product quality, you must monitor and report data and demonstrate process routes in the laboratory; conducting remedial experimentation as required to support plant activities.

You must also prepare batch documentation or temporary instructions as required to support processing, out of normal operating hours and review and complete technical assessments on batch documentation.

Candidates for this role must hold a Chemistry degree and experience as a chemist in a fine chemical industry role. An understanding of chemical/batch manufacturing systems and their effective implementation is essential, and you must have a high degree of computer literacy with the ability to interpret and report on data. Experience in project management and of introducing new products into manufacturing would be desirable.

This is a day position, based on a 40-hour week working Monday to Friday.
