Process Industry and COMAH Environment Regulation Advisors
£34,879 – £42,955, plus pension and flexitime
Across England and flexible working available too
Industrial emissions are rarely out of the news. And whether you come from industry or regulation, you can put your expertise to the best possible use here at the Environment Agency. We regulate emissions from a wide range of industries including combustion, refineries, waste incineration, chemicals, metals, cement and lime, food and drink, paper/pulp and textiles manufacture. And we also work with high hazard sites to reduce the risk of major industrial accidents. This is life at the forefront of regulation.
Ultimately, everything you do will promote sustainable growth, and protect people, communities and the environment. You will play a key role in developing the Environment Agencies approach to regulating industrial activities across England, including high hazard (COMAH) sites.
With first-hand knowledge of the pressing issues; you will also inform policies and processes, such as national and international standards, support the delivery of training and help meet air quality and national emissions targets.
It is something that will involve close collaboration with colleagues, Defra and other central government departments. To be credible experience of environment regulation ideally in high hazard sites, chemicals/refineries or metals either as a regulator or in industry is essential. However, it will be your skill at building positive working relationships that marks you out.
We will support your personal development including support towards obtaining Chartered status where appropriate. And as well as a competitive salary, there is a generous 18.5% employer contribution pension along with great benefits like flexitime. With 11,000 people and counting, we offer a wealth of opportunities. But the real attraction will be the chance to help industries put the environment first.
