Are you a life scientist looking to develop your career in the Cell or Advanced Therapy sector?

We are currently looking for a Process Development / Cell Therapy Development Scientist to join a growing biotechnology company based in the Edinburgh area. As the Process Development / Cell Therapy Development Scientist you will assist with the development and GMP translation of protocols for the manufacture of cellular therapies within an expanding and dynamic team.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role of Process Development / Cell Therapy Development Scientist will involve working with academic and commercial partners to transfer and develop procedures related to the manufacture of cellular therapies, involving the technical transfer of developed methods to our GMP Cellular Therapy Facility for clinical manufacture. Key responsibilities include:

1. Perform the GMP translation and process development of academic protocols and the development of assays for the delivery of new cell therapies.

2. Perform the process validation and technology transfer of GMP translated projects to the GMP manufacturing facility.

3. Provide support for the GMP team with the introduction of new client manufacturing processes.

4. Perform scale up and process development of in house and client manufacturing processes.

5. Day to day housekeeping of dedicated laboratories to ensure a high standard of organisation at all times with shared responsibility for out-of-hours cell culture maintenance.

6. Identify, evaluate and introduce new technologies.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Process Development / Cell Therapy Development Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in a Life Sciences related discipline, eg. Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Bioprocessing etc.

2. You will have some experience of advanced cell culture techniques including culture of pluripotent stem cells, differentiation of stem cells, etc. In addition to this, you will be expected to have experience in a wide range of cellular analytical techniques including FACS, qPCR, Immunostaining, genetic analysis, etc. We would also be interested in speaking to candidates with gene editing / CRISPR-CAS9 experience.

3. You should be able to demonstrate the ability to effectively plan and execute experimental plans. Any experience of GMP regulations would be an advantage.
