Synthetic Organic Chemist

In this position you will be required to manage a diverse range of contract research/custom synthesis projects. You will be required to design new synthetic routes and synthesise novel compounds. You must be able to manage synthesis of compounds on scales of mg to 10s and possibly 100s of gram quantity. Also you must be able to deliver projects on time and manage simultaneous projects as and when required. From time to time you will be asked to assist other chemists with their projects too.

The term of the position is initially for one year with strong possibility of extension to a permanent contract.


The successful candidate will have a PhD in organic chemistry with good practical ability and a wide knowledge and understanding of modern synthetic organic chemistry.  Knowledge of medicinal chemistry and hands–on experience of LCMS will be an advantage. You should have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to work well both in a team as well as individually.

Remuneration: £30,000 + pa (dependent upon experience and background).
