We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior / Principal Scientist - Antibody Discovery to join a leading life sciences company based in the Berkshire area. As the Senior / Principal Scientist - Antibody Discovery you will be responsible for designing, developing and running cellular, biochemical and biophysical assays to drive the discovery of small molecule and antibody drugs and to provide pharmacological insight into drug mechanism.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Senior / Principal Scientist - Antibody Discovery will be laboratory based and the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Independent design, development and prosecution of in vitro biochemical assays for screening and profiling of small molecules and antibodies, and pharmacological characterisation of novel therapeutics.

2. Identifying and evaluating innovative assay technologies.

3. Strengthen assay biology expertise within the group and across the company through influencing, mentoring and networking, in particular establishing effective external collaborations.

4. Proactive communication and partnership with other groups within and outside own functional area to influence science, technology and project progression. You will also be expected to represent the company at major international conferences andpublish relevant work.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Senior / Principal Scientist - Antibody Discovery we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree or PhD in a relevant biochemistry or pharmacology related discipline. You should also have experience working in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry within drug discovery, or have a proven academic record in drug discovery.

2. Demonstrated ability to independently design, develop and prosecute in vitro biochemical assays for screening and profiling of small molecules and antibodies eg. binding assays, competition assays, FRET assay, enzyme assays and biophysical techniques such as Biacore

3. Proven track record of managing successful collaborations, a good external network and a record of publication and conference presentations.
